THE LATEST

Isolated thunderstorms are possible this evening as another round of showers moves across the area. A strong to marginally severe storm is also possible, with the primary threat being strong gusty winds in addition to locally heavy rain. Expect generally 1/4 to 1 inch of rain with this system, with the higher amounts expected to be generally west of I-85. Some rivers continue to be in flood due to recent rainfall, and flood warnings remain in effect for several locations.

Coosa River/Mayos Bar Lock & Dam Park: 24 feet and steady. Flood stage: 24 feet.

OUTLOOK

Cloudy today with 50% rain chance increasing to 80% tonight, up to half-inch rainfall possible. With the additional rainfall across the area, rivers, creeks, and streams will remain out of their banks with water levels continuing to rise in some cases. Several rounds of showers will continue into next week, along with isolated thunderstorms possible Tuesday.

FORECAST

Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Areas of dense fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 70. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 54. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
