Obituaries: Baby Jah Naya Allen, Sammie Howell Peirson, Mr. Arthur Richard Riggs Jr., Ms. Sharon Diane Watkins and Mrs. Martha Doris Milam Yother.

Ms. Sharon Diane Watkins, age 70, of  Rome, Ga., transitioned December 24, 2018. A Celebration of Life for Ms. Sharon Diane Watkins will commence Saturday, December 29, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Thankful Baptist Church of Rome, Ga. The Watkins Family will receive friends at Thankful Baptist Church on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from noon until the funeral hour. F. K. Jones Funeral Home.

Baby Jah Naya Allen, of Rome,  transitioned December 25, 2018. The family will have a private burial on Monday, December 31, 2018.  F. K. Jones Funeral Home.

Sammie Howell Peirson was born on December 18, 1934 and passed away on December 28, 2018. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Daniel’s Funeral Home. A reception will follow at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Martha Doris Milam Yother, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, age 90, of Rome, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Mrs. Yother was born in Taylorsville, GA on March 9, 1928, the daughter of the late Felix Allen Milam and the late Bertha Mae Proctor Milam. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Horace Weldon Yother, and seven siblings, Roy Milam, Claude Milam, Claire Day, Rufus “Dean” Milam, Alma Elizabeth Milam Groves, Lucille Milam, and an infant brother. Mrs. Yother attended Taylorsville School and later graduated from Rome High School at the age of 16.

After graduation from high school, Mrs. Yother moved to Atlanta in 1945 and this is where she met her future husband, Horace Weldon Yother, and their marriage was blessed with three sons. She was a longtime member of Clairmont Baptist Church in Atlanta and later Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church in Rome. After her husband retired, they relocated from Atlanta to Rome.

Survivors include her sons, Leslie Yother and his wife Lucy of Leavenworth KS, Mike Yother and his wife Michele of Peachtree City, and Don Yother of Rome, four grandchildren Zander Yother of Rome, Dakota Yother of Calhoun, Christina Yother and her fiancée Derrick Williams of Sharpsberg, and Grant Yother of Peachtree City; one great-grandchild Noami; two sisters, Evelyn Braden of Rome, and Adine Shepherd of Rome; to all her nephews and nieces she loved you all.

The family will receive visitors at Daniel’s Funeral Home on Saturday December 29, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held Sunday December 30, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home, with entombment following at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Arthur Richard Riggs Jr., age 69, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018, at a local hospital.

Mr. Riggs was born in Miami, FL on February 6, 1949, son of the late Arthur Richard Riggs Sr. and the late June Western Riggs.  Prior to his retirement, he worked for Bell South.  He also served the Broomtown Community as a volunteer fireman for 25 years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debi Bone.

Mr. Riggs is survived by his children, Beverly Guidry (Stephen), Richard Riggs (Amie), Matthew Riggs (Mary) and April Butler (Jordon); his grandchildren, Josh Lipko, Christa Outlaw (Shayne), Sara Beth Guidry, Carter Riggs, Cadyn Riggs, Corbin Holbrook, Anna Riggs, Matthew Riggs, Peyton Butler, Cade Butler and Hailie Netherland; his great grandson, Drew Outlaw; his sister, Donna Davis.

In keeping with Mr. Riggs wishes, he will be cremated.
