Buzz: Floyd County Public Works saluted for fast work on Ward Mountain Road repair. Rome Schools Superintendent Lou Byars’ contract extended through 2022.

From Floyd County: Ward Mountain Road open again.  “A special thanks to crews from Floyd County Public Works, who worked on the sinkhole on Ward Mountain Road this week. Crews were able to open the road to traffic in just one day after the road failure. The hole was approximately 20 feet in diameter and 6 to 10 feet deep. The remaining roadway had to be removed and built up to finish grade to be safe for traffic. This was a major undertaking to do properly in one day. Thank you, Public Works, for keeping Floyd County safe.”

Rome City Schools’ Board of Education voted to extend the contract for Superintendent Louis Byars until  2022 during a called School Board meeting last week. “I am honored to continue to serve as Superintendent for Rome City Schools,” said Byars. “This gives us the opportunity to complete many of the projects we have started together. It feels really great to know that the Board has confidence in me to carry out the plans we have put forth for the future of Rome City Schools. I am truly humbled and grateful that they will allow me to continue the work I love so much, and when you are able to continue to do what you love, it is a great feeling.”
