After 18 months with Rome City Schools, Dr. Clifton Nicholson out as principal at Anna K. Davie Elementary.

Dr. Clifton Nicholson, hired in June 2017 to serve as the principal of Anna K. Davie Elementary, has resigned, according to a news release from Rome City Schools. Nicholson replaced Parke Wilkinson who was named principal at Rome Middle School. No reason was given for the Christmas break departure other than “personal reasons.” Nicholson had been an assistant principal at Atlanta’s Daniel McLaughlin Therrell High School in Atlanta before joining the Rome system.
From Rome City Schools: “Effective immediately, Dr. Clifton Nicholson has resigned as principal of Anna K. Davie Elementary School due to personal reasons.  Nicholson has been with the system since 2017. Rome City Schools will begin reviewing applications immediately to fill the position of principal of Anna K. Davie Elementary.”
From the school’s website from Nicholson:

“Welcome to Anna K. Davie Elementary! Anna K. Davie has the support of churches, organizations, colleges and universities, small and large businesses, and most importantly, our parents and community. The support we receive is one of the strengths of our school. Along with support, there are other key ingredients to having a successful school. We provide organization and structure to help students feel safe in a positive learning environment. Teachers provide excellent instruction.

“Parents are encouraged to participate in their child’s educational process. We have high expectations for every student. Anna K. Davie Elementary will be a family friendly school.

“As principal of this wonderful school, I will work hard for you to provide the best for our students. I will strive to provide greater opportunities for our students so that they may have as much experience and knowledge as possible. My door is always open, and I look forward to our partnership. We will achieve great things together!”
