Construction continues on the new DiPrima’s Shoes store on Martha Berry Highway in Rome. President Judy Sloan says the store will be opening after the first of the year.
“We tried to open before the holidays but we’ve had so many delays with the weather. So we’ve decided to just wait until after the first of January,” she says.
The store is twice the size of the current store, which is located in the same parking lot. The new space will allow DiPrima’s to expand into apparel along with shoes.
“We will be offering brands like Carhartt, Mountain Khaki, Columbia and more. We will still be offering our same brands of shoes, but will look to expand that as well,” says Sloan.
As for the old store, plans are still being finalized but Sloan says at least part of it will be torn down for parking. “We may end up tearing down the whole thing, we haven’t decided yet.”
DiPrima’s is looking to hire additional part-time help for the new store. Applications are available at the current store, 2901 Martha Berry Highway.
Business hours will continue to be 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Saturday. Hours may expand once the new store is open. DiPrima’s Shoes also has locations in Calhoun at 117 W.C. Bryant Parkway and Cartersville at 294 Nelson St.
