Mr. George Wade Moody, age 79, of Stone Mountain, Ga. (formerly of Cedartown, Ga.) transitioned November 29, 2018. Complete arrangements will follow at a later date. Please keep the family in your prayers. Care and Direction entrusted to F. K. Jones Funeral Home.


Mr. Oliver “Tony” Rickard, age 62, of Rome, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, in a Cartersville nursing facility.

Mr. Rickard was born in Rome, GA on March 2, 1956, son of the late Oliver Larry Rickard and the late Violet Ann Green Rickard.  He attended East Rome High School and attended South Broad Baptist Church.  He was a member of Oostanaula Lodge #113, F. & A. M. and was a member of the Rome Shrine Club. Prior to ill health, he was employed by Metaldyne, Inc. as a machine operator with 35 years of service.

Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Patterson (James), Rome; a son, Corey Rickard (Jaime), Dallas, GA; a brother, Chris Rickard, Rome; 3 sisters, Terry Flowers (Arnold), Rome, Sherry Green (Eric), Birmingham, AL, and Tammy Bridges, Rome; 4 grandchildren, Kendall, Sydney, Graham and Madison Rickard; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  The Rev. Ricky Studdard will officiate.  Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Oostanaula Lodge #113 F. & A. M. in charge of graveside rites.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 1pm until time for the service.

Mr. William Franklin “Billy” Robinson, age 89, of Rome passed away Thursday November 29, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Robinson was born May 21, 1929, in Floyd County. He was a member of Shorter Avenue Bapitst Church, retired from General Electric, and a veteran of the United States Navy serving during WWII. He was preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Swann Robinson, and father, Will Roberson, son William Lloyd Robinson, brother, Morrill Robinson.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Silvers Robinson, sons, Michael Robinson, Larry Robinson, Tony (Ruthie) Robinson, Tim (Waynette) Robinson, all of Rome; 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday December 1, 2018 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Charles Drummond, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until the service hour on Saturday, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include, Gary Robinson, Caine Robinson, Noah Robinson, Chris Robinson, Greg Robinson, Jeff Simpson, Laura Robinson, and Bart Robinson.

Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.


Mr. Howard Roper, 84, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Services for Mr. Roper are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date. Wright Memorial Mortuary, Inc. has charge of arrangements.
