From Cartersville City Schools: We are excited to announce the Canes Football team will play for the Class 4A state championship title for the third time in four seasons. Due to Atlanta United’s recent success and their appearance in the Major League Soccer Cup, the Georgia High School Association had to reschedule all football state championship games. The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes’ contest against Blessed Trinity will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 4:30 p.m. in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

In order to ensure we have appropriate bus transportation to deliver our bus riders home from school and to transport all students who will be participating in supporting roles during the game, including the marching band and the cheer team, we will observe a half-day of school with CPS and CES releasing at 11:30 a.m. and CMS and CHS dismissing at 12:30 p.m. Additionally, this will allow families who plan on attending the game to have adequate time to leave after early release dismissal and still arrive to the stadium prior to the start of the game.

After-school care will be available to students who have regularly attended on Wednesdays during this school year. The after-school administrator will contact those parents directly with details.

We will inform you of any plans regarding fan buses to transport fans to the stadium as soon as they are available.

We appreciate your understanding and support.
