Buzz: Winter Art Market returns this weekend. Winter Wonderland due Friday-Sunday. Honors for Denim Marketing in Cartersville. Public Health urges hepatitis A prevention steps.

 

The 2018 Winter Art Market returns Saturday and Sunday at the Rome Civic Center. The market will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days. It features gifts from more than 50 local artisans and vendors including woodworking, jewelry, apparel, pottery, handmade soaps, photography and more. Food vendors will also be site and include: honey, jellies and jams, pies, barbecue sauce, baked goods, grilled cheeses and salad dressing. The Winter Wonderland Carnival & Ice Festival runs from Friday through Sunday at the Forum  River Center. The three-day event will provide a platform for various social, religious, ethnic and cultural groups to share how they embrace the festive time of year. The event is free and open to the public. Local vendors and artisans will be hosting booths, selling and showcasing their products throughout the weekend. The Festival begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 11 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m. The festival is presented by Peacefully Engaging the Rome Community, and runs alongside the Forum On Ice, where community members can ice skate for $10 ages 5 and up and $3 for ages 4 and younger. Wonderland.


Denim Marketing won two OBIEs at the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s 38th Annual OBIE Awards. The Cartersville-based firm found its “fit” within the marketing category by winning a Gold OBIE for Best Social Media Campaign – Associate and a Silver OBIE for Best Website – Associate. The Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s OBIE Awards began in 1980 and have grown throughout the years to include more than 100 building, remodeling, marketing and personal achievement categories. The Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District is spreading the word about hepatitis A prevention to certain high-risk groups as well as the general public.  “We are working to prevent the spread of this highly contagious but highly preventable disease,” says District Health Director Dr. Unini Odama, “by providing preventive information and encouraging those at risk to get vaccinated against hepatitis A.” An information sheet explaining the disease, describing its symptoms, advising what to do if someone has symptoms, detailing who is at high risk of hepatitis A, and providing preventive information is available for viewing below or download/print on the Northwest Health District website athttps://bit.ly/2QLGC94 or at your local county health department.
