In addition to observing “Small Business Saturday,” here’s a look at what’s happening with area businesses:
Sew Knot Serious opens at new location in Cartersville: Look for the popular shop now at 139 W. Main St. in downtown Cartersville. The grand opening is Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. We get a kick out of their tagline: “Inspired home decor, fashion and sew much more.”
Greene’s Jewelers celebrate 70 years Saturday: They plan to celebrate from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with “reminiscing, refreshments and door prizes all day.” The store, at 328 Broad St., was saluted by the Downtown Rome Facebook page for being “the longest, continuously open business on Broad Street and we are lucky to have them.”
A different spin on ‘Black Friday.’ Rome City Brewing Co. is having some fun with the day mostly known for retail therapy. “Black Friday, we’ll open at noon and serve lunch. Plus kids eat free. We’ll feature $1 off our black hats and $1 off our darker brews in honor of Black Friday. Downtown Brown, Goatmeal Stout and Baltic Porter.” A different on holiday cheer above the brewery in the Tap Room at 333 Broad St.
Early shopping plans Friday? Eat more chicken: The Chick-fil-A at Mount Berry Mall will be ready if you’re out early or late with extended hours from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m.
A couple more reasons to shop early — and local. Spool of Dreams has a couple of Friday deals brewing. In Rome, next to Moe’s, the first 25 people in line as doors open at 8 a.m. get $25 gift cards. At the Cartersville store, look for deals as well as “complimentary doughnuts, coffee and mimosas.” Blue Sky Outfitters in Rome and Cartersville also is offering mimosas, coffee, juice, doughnuts and discounts.
Bids due Wednesday on $1 million remodeling of Walmart in West Rome: It looks like the second remodel of store no. 658 at 22510 Redmond Circle and Shorter Avenue adjacent to Sam’s Club.
