From WEIS Radio: One person was taken to Floyd-Cherokee Medical Center after his powered paraglider crashed into Weiss Lake in Leesburg on Thursday afternoon. According to reports, the pilot experienced mechanical issues which caused complete power failure. He was able to deploy safety chutes before going into the lake. An area resident witnessed the crash, got to him via boat and took him to shore where Floyd EMS Medics were standing by. The pilot was taken to Floyd-Cherokee Medical Center where he was treated for hypothermia.
Quick work by Rome Police, Floyd EMS save Walmart customer’s life: Several Facebook posts this morning are detailing a lifesaving emergency at the Walmart in West Rome. According to those reports:
“Amazing job by all! Everyone was at the right place at the right time!! Working as a team starting CPR applying the AED, and administering shocks as needed we were able to save the life of a gentleman while at Walmart in West Rome. I cannot mention his name but he will make a full recovery due to Excellent Team work!! Thank you Nathan Channell and everyone else at Floyd EMS and Rome Fire! Jenna Bice Carpenter (Ethan); Kati Groover (Robert); Danielle White (Coleman).”
“Hands down proud and grateful to be a medic today. Getting a save is like hitting the lottery for us here in EMS and of all days to get one we did on Thanksgiving. Kinda makes it like the ice cream with peach cobbler. We cant take any credit though because Rome PD was on it quick and did an amazing job! I was just happy to help! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
