Update: Calhoun man dies in accident on I-75 South Tuesday morning.

A Calhoun man was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on I-75 Southbound near mile marker 319 in Gordon County just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Cody Lovingood, 28, lost control of his Chevy Cobalt. His vehicle spun out of control until coming to rest in the inside lane, facing north. A Chevy Silverado 2500, driven by Baltazar Aguilera, 33, of Fort Mitchell, Ky., was traveling in the inside lane and struck the Chevrolet Cobalt head-on. Both vehicles came to rest in the tree line off the west side of I-75.  Lovingood, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time his vehicle was struck, was pronounced dead at the scene. Aguilera received minor injuries.

WRGA reports that one person has died in a Tuesday morning accident on I-75 southbound just north of Calhoun.

Georgia DOT reports that:

-The accident involves one car and one truck.

-The right lane of three is blocked.

-The wreck should be cleared by 9 a.m. although with a fatality involved, don’t be surprised to see the investigation last longer.
