Media release: The City of Rome Parking Office announces free holiday parking at the Third Avenue deck starting Friday, Nov. 16. In anticipation of the busy holiday season, the Parking Office is offering free deck parking on levels two, three and four to provide an additional parking option throughout the busy holiday season in downtown Rome. The free holiday parking is among enhancements the Parking Office has been managing. New parking signage has been added throughout downtown Rome to help patrons easily locate all the public parking locations. Extra patrols have been added to parking decks to ensure a consistent presence for security and cleanliness; and extra lighting has been added to ensure deck stairwells, elevators and parking spaces are well lit. Coming soon, the parking office will roll out License Plate Recognition to better enforce the current two-hour time limit ordinance for on-street parking. In response to input from business owners, residents and property owners, the new technology is being implemented to create efficiencies in our current parking procedures; while providing new supply and demand analytics for parking in downtown.
