Mr. Richard Stephen “Steve” Chambers, age 63, of Rome, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018, in Perry, FL, doing what he loved, fishing.

Mr. Chambers was born in Rome, GA on October 4, 1955, son of the late Elmer Donahoo “Tug” Chambers and the late Vivian Barton “Babe” Chambers.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Edwin Chambers, and by a sister, Susie Chambers.  Mr. Chambers attended St. Mary’s, Darlington, and West Rome High School, graduating in 1973.  Steve was employed with Southern Pipe and Supply in Rome and with the Rome Fire Department, where he was a Sergeant and Rescue Truck Driver.  For several years, he was the Charter Boat Captain on “Backdraft”, which he owned and operated out of Panama City, FL.  He was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Bradley Chambers (Jessica), Rome; 2 grandchildren, Nevaeh Chambers and Jayden Eubanks, both of Panama City, FL; his former wife and mother of his children, Johnette Terhune Chambers, Rome; his best friend, Lawrence Free, Rome.  He is also survived by a multitude of fishing friends in Georgia and Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 4 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  His cousins, Don Chambers and Stan Brooks, will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 1649 Cartersville Highway, SE, Rome, GA  30161.

Austin Glenn Kollman, age 25, of Miami, FL, formerly of Rome, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, in Florida.

Austin was born in Rome on September 11, 1993, a son of Debbye Kay Monk Kollman and Brian Keith Kollman.  He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of his life, moving to Florida in 2016.  Austin was a graduate of Model High School, attended Georgia Northwestern Technical College and was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church.

At the time of his death, he was working as an electrician with Sawgrass Electric.  Austin was an avid Tennessee Volunteers’ fan, loved cars and reptiles, and was involved with softball leagues and adult kickball leagues.

Austin is survived by his mother, Debbye Monk Kollman of Fort Lauderdale, FL; father and stepmother, Brian and Debra Kollman of Jacksonville, NC; fiancé, Allison Berkley; one sister, Christy Kollman; two brothers, Kevin Keith Kollman and Tyler Keith (Brooke) Kollman.  Austin’s dog, Chase, and his chameleon, Zilla, also survive.

Funeral services for Austin will be held on Tuesday evening, November 6, 2018, at 7 p.m. in Salmon Funeral Home with Pastor Mikel Garrett officiating.  Private interment will be Wednesday morning in Rome Memorial Gardens.

Austin’s family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Tyler Kollman, Kevin Kollman, Joshua Kollman, Eric Kollman, Grant Hicks and Hank Hicks.

Mrs. Mattie Sams, age 77, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Services for Mrs. Sams will be Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Wright Memorial Chapel, 814 S. Broad St., Rome.
