An early look at Thursday’s predicted stormy weather: The above chart, from the National Weather Service, was shared by Tim Herrington of the Floyd County Emergency Management office. Based on the latest data, it appears Northwest Georgia will see the effects of the storm between noon and 6 p.m. Thursday. Atlanta area commuters, you’ll see it from 3 until 9 p.m. as will the Columbus area. Athens and Macon, watch out for 6 p.m. through midnight Thursday.
What to know:
- The storm system has slowed down slightly and is now expected to impact the area Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.
- The Storm Prediction Center outlook for Thursday night through 8 a.m. Friday morning has placed part of the forecast area in a Slight Risk for severe storms.
- No storms or other hazards expected on Halloween evening.
- Strong to severe storms will likely affect north and central Georgia Thursday night with damaging winds and isolated, weak tornadoes possible.
A strong storm system is expected to produce widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms across the regional Thursday and into Thursday. A few storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds.
