From WRGA News: “There are a few additional details regarding the arrest of a man in connection with a shooting early Wednesday in the parking lot of the Alto Plaza shopping center. According to the arrest warrant for 28-year old Michael Hastings, he was involved in a possible verbal argument with 43-year old Sigmund White. Hastings then reportedly discharged his .45-caliber firearm several times at White as White was running away. White was shot once in the back and required surgery. Two other men were also arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of obstruction of law enforcement for allegedly lying to investigators about the whereabouts of the weapon used in the shooting.”
From Rome Police: On Wednesday Oct. 10, 2018, the Rome Police Department was requested by an E911 call to investigate a shooting that occurred in the parking lot located at 440 Shorter Ave.
Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 06:46 a.m., Rome Police were dispatched to a shots fired call in the area of Mount Alto Plaza shopping center. A resident in the area reported hearing several gun shots. When officers responded, they found a male subject lying on the ground. The male victim is identified as 43-year-old Sigmund Deaslo White. Mr. White was shot in the back. Officers administered aid until EMS personnel arrived to take over. The last report on the victim’s condition was that he was stable.
The offenders were not present at the scene when officers arrived. Criminal Investigators arrived and collected crime scene evidence. The victim was cooperative with investigators and provided information that led them to a location on Burnett Ferry Road. The offenders were located in a red truck and arrested at about 11:30 a.m. this same date. The suspects are as follows:
Nicole Lynn Hill, 35.
Michael Wade Hastings, 28.
Hill had an outstanding Failure to Appear warrant on a previous drug charge. More charges in this case are pending. Hastings was charged with Aggravated Assault with more charges possible.

WRGA’s David Crowder reports one man is hospitalized and undergoing surgery at 8 a.m. following a shooting this morning off Shorter Avenue near Buffalo’s Cafe.
Rome Police Maj. Rodney Bailey tells Crowder that nearby residents reported hearing echos from the shooting around 6:45 a.m. Police arrived to find one man on the ground. He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and was said to be in surgery as of 8 this morning.
At least six police units were on the scene with crime tape and evidence markers also spread throughout the shopping center.
