Obituaries: Miss Mary Frances Jones Beasley, Mrs. Eddie Belle Cosby, Mr. Gordon Lee Miller.

Mr. Gordon Lee Miller, age 81, of Cave Spring, passed away on September 30, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Miller was born on January 6, 1937 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Douglas H. Miller and the late Connie Carver Miller.  Mr. Miller graduated from Pepperell High School. He worked for years as a mechanic at Harley Davidson of Atlanta and then came back to Rome and worked at Celanese Textiles.  He was a farmer and cattleman.  Mr. Miller loved to hunt but his passion was rabbit hunting.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Hoyt Miller and D. H. Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice Mills Miller; his daughters, Nadine West (Buddy) and Rhonda Dunn (Greg); his grandchildren, Jeremy May, Kyle May and Kolt Dunn; his sister, Barbara Ann Earnhart.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 3:30 pm at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with The Reverend Mark Purser officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, from 1:00 pm until the service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.


Miss Mary Frances Jones Beasley, age 83 of Silver creek, GA. passed away Friday, September 29, 2018 at a local health care center.

Mary was born in Rockmart, Ga. on January 17, 1935, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Ollie Baxter.  In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by two husbands, Max Jones Sr. and John Beasley.

Mary worked for a number of years as a real-estate agent for Hardy Realty where she retired.

Survivors include a daughter, Dondra Stephens of Silver Creek, a son, Max (Mackie) Jones, Jr., of Rome, 2 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren, 2 sisters, Laura Wilson and Nancy Wheeler.

The family will receive friends at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, from 4-6 pm. At other hours they may be contacted at their respectful residences.


Mrs. Eddie Belle Cosby, age 83, of Rome, Georgia passed away Monday, October 01, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eddie Cosby are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.
