RomeGaCares is happy to announce that we have received two generous donations of 330 buckets for our relief kits. Now we need your help to fill them up. The items for the kit include:

• Liquid laundry detergent- 50 or 25 ounces only
• 12-16 oz. Liquid household cleaner- concentrated
• 16-28 oz. Dish soap
• Clothespins
• Cotton or plastic clotheslines
• Sponges (no cellulose)
• 33-45 gallon heavy-duty trash bags
• Cleaning wipes (Handi-wipes or reusable)
• Can air freshener
• 6-14 oz. Insect-repellant spray
• Kitchen dishwashing gloves
• Scouring pads (no stainless steel, Brillo pads or SOS pads; none with soap built in)
• Plastic or wooden handle scrub brush
• Dust masks

RomeGaCares quickly coming together; how to help. RomeGaCares is accepting donations for Disaster Relief Kits each weekday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday  behind North Rome Church of Good at 1929 N. Broad St. (off Woodward Street) If you would like to support hurricane victims, you can help RomeGaCares in the following ways:

    Volunteer: Volunteers will be needed to accept and assemble donations and load trailers. These efforts must be coordinated through our represntative by emailing romegacares@gmail.com. Please send us the number of volunteers and the dates and times of their availability. The coordinator will then get back with you to confirm when you are needed. We want to make the best use of everyone’s time.

  • Donate: Below is a list of the specific items we will accept. We will not accept any donations of clothing, shoes, furniture. We prefer to accept only those items that are needed most, so please use the list as your guide. A monetary gift may also be contributed by visiting our website at: www.floydsheriff.com. Other methods for contributing monetarily are listed on the the website as well.
  • Individuals and groups wishing to provide a disaster relief kit to those in need may do so by:
     Donating $65 to RomeGaCares. Donations can be made online through the RomeGaCares page at www.floydsheriff.com
     Mailing a check or money order made out to RomeGaCares mailed to: Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, c/o RomeGaCares, 3 Government Plaza, Rome, GA 30161
    Prepare a kit on your own with the items listed below or bring the items and we will prepare the kit. The items may be dropped off at 1929 N. Broad St., Rome, Ga. 30161. Please contact us at romegacares@gmail.com or 706-470-439-8277 if you have questions.
    Kit Materials
     One 5-Gallon bucket with re-sealable lid
    o Buckets from fast-food restaurants or bakeries can be used if washed and cleaned
    o Do not use buckets that have stored chemicals such as paint or pool cleaner
    o Advertisements on the outside are acceptable
     Liquid laundry detergent
    o One 50-oz. or two 25-oz. bottle(s) only
     12-16 oz. Liquid household cleaner- concentrated
    o No spray cleaners
     16-28 oz. Dish soap
     50 Clothespins
     One 100 ft. or two 50 ft. cotton or plastic clotheslines
     7 Sponges (no cellulose)
     Twenty-four 33-45 gallon heavy-duty trash bags
     18 Cleaning wipes (Handi-wipes or reusable)
     1 Can air freshener
     One 6-14 oz. Insect-repellant spray
     2 Pairs kitchen dishwashing gloves
     1 Pair leather work gloves
     5 Scouring pads (no stainless steel, Brillo pads or SOS pads; none with soap built in)
     1 Plastic or wooden handle scrub brush
     5 Dust masks
    We will also accept:
     Water,  Ensure or other non-perishable meal supplements/ replacements (liquid or solid), infant and adult diapers, shovels, box fans
