Floyd County Schools called meeting on Monday: On Monday, the Armuchee area Local School Governance Team members will host a community meeting in the auditorium at Armuchee High School at 6 p.m. Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson will present information regarding the construction of the new gym. After that presentation, (probably around 6:45 p.m.), the board will have a Called Board meeting in the school’s media center to approve the ‘guaranteed maximum price’ — to use the money from the bonds — to begin construction of the gym. Board members will be in attendance for the community meeting but are not part of the presentation (they will just be in the audience until their meeting begins).

The Rome TEA Party hosts its Monthly Lunch Bunch meeting Tuesday, Sept.18, from noon-1 p.m. at Fuddruckers. The program will feature Dr. Dan Hanks, former Floyd County Republican Party chairman and active member of the party. He’ll speak on the governor, lieutenant governor and secretary of state races and efforts to turn out the vote. Come early to order lunch from the menu. For more: Mike Morton 706-346-3400.
