OUTLOOK

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected today and Wednesday, primarily in the afternoon and evening. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall. The weather hazards for Thursday through Sunday, if any, will greatly depend on the track of Hurricane Florence. Florence is forecast to become a major Hurricane as it moves across the western Atlantic Tuesday and beyond and looks to threaten the coastal areas of North and South Carolina. After landfall, there is some possibility the remnants of Florence could affect the southern Appalachians.
