From the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office:

Floyd County Top 10 Most wanted: Clifford Whatley has been located by the U.S. Marshal Service and is being detained in a county jail in Texas. Whatley is wanted for allegedly attacking a woman and nearly severing her arm with a machete on Aug. 24, 2018. He has been charged with Aggravated Battery. Thank you for your help United States Marshals!

Rome Police:

Clifford Whatley was arrested by U.S. Marshals today in Houston, Texas.

PREVIOUSLY

Media release: On Aug. 22, at 10:09 p.m.,  Rome officers responded to Riverwood Apartment complex at 525 W. 13th St. to the report of a female being stabbed.  When officers arrived, they found the victim had been attacked with a machete by her boyfriend, Clifford Fredrick Whatley, age 30, standing 6 feet even and weighing 200 pounds.

The victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment and eventually flown to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga for emergency surgery.

An aggravated battery warrant was taken for Whatley.  He possibly may be driving the victim’s 2006 gold Ford Taurus.  At this time, Whatley is not in custody.
