Up on the roof: That’s where Floyd County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson, left, and Rodney Stewart, right, principal of Armuchee Elementary School spent part of their morning. The reason: Students were challenged to raise $10,000 for playground and other improvements around the campus. A last-minute surge put them over the top — so Steward went up top to satisfy his end of the bargain. Wilson also hiked up the later following a challenge made during a recent school board meeting. Stewart will spend the day on the roof, passing down candy to students — some of whom will be armed with water balloons. Four classes that raised the most money will have lunch offsite today as well. Wilson and Stewart discussed the event on Friday’s Hometown Headlines Radio Edition on WRGA 98.7 FM. Also, Assistant Principal Joseph Pethel will spend his day wearing this blue suit (photo courtesy of Steve Graves).
