Mrs. Emily Catherine Rossiter, age 44, of Rome, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Rossiter was born in Gadsden, Ala., on May 26, 1974, daughter of the late Ray Vaughn. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Glencoe High School in Glencoe, Ala. She continued her academic excellence in college receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in English and her Master’s Degree in Education at Jacksonville State University. She maintained a 4.0 average during her college career. Prior to her becoming disabled, she was a teacher at Pepperell High School for a number of years. Mrs. Rossiter was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Eugene Vincent “Rusty” Rossiter III, to whom she was married on June 16, 2000; a daughter, Catie Rossiter, Rome; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Rafael Carballo, Pastor, officiating, and concelebrated by Father Valery Akoh, Parochial Vicar. Deacon Stuart Neslin and Deacon Steve Thacker will assist. Immediately following the Funeral Mass, a graveside and inurment service will be held in the Parish Memorial Garden.

A reception for family and friends in the Parish Social Hall will follow the services.

Rhody Eldridge Henderson, age 99, of Rome died Thursday evening, August 30, 2018, in a local health care center.

A native of Tennessee, Mr. Henderson was born March 13, 1919, son of the late Marshall and Annie Reese Henderson. He was a resident of Rome most of his life and was an employee of Fox Manufacturing Co. Mr. Henderson was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and rabbit hunting. He was an excellent carpenter and mechanic. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army during World War II, and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal lord and savior on his 99th birthday. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhoda Joyce Henderson.

Survivors include his wife, Grady Warmack Henderson, to whom he was married October 20, 1941; a son Jerry Henderson; grandchildren Stephanie Henderson, Lisa Ammons, and Christopher Henderson; Great grandchildren Beth Scott, Wes Scott, Hannah and Chris Henderson, Jamey and Jessica Combs, and Brody Ammons; Great great grandchildren Anderson Beau Scott, Kennedy Leigh Scott, Addyson Freeman, and Bella Jacks; A brother Robert Earl Henderson also survives.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the North Rome Church of God with Reverend Terry Addis officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until the service hour.



Mrs. Syble Nell Mobbs, age 82, of Rome, GA, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018.

Mrs. Mobbs was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on April 9, 1936, to the late Mr. Daniel Webster Johnson and the late Mrs. Molinda Dunahew Johnson.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Mobbs.

Mrs. Mobbs grew up in Mississippi, was a graduate of Meriden High School, and East Mississippi Junior College, Scooba, MS.  She was employed for a number of years at Inland Container Corp. as a PBX operator and at Rhodes Furniture Company.  In 1998, she retired from the Floyd County Board of Education where she worked as the Insurance Coordinator for more than 20 years.  She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Mrs. Sonya Baird (Richard) of Starkville, MS, Mr. Judson Mobbs (Stacey) of Euharlee, GA,  Mrs. Katinka Kelly (Danny) of Valdosta, GA, and Mr. Thomas Mobbs (Misti) of Rome, GA;  grandchildren Mariah Ginn (John) of Bowling Green, KY, Jarred Hicks of Resaca, GA,  Colton Hicks of Nicklesville, GA,  Jameson Mobbs and Katherine Mobbs of Euharlee, GA, Macy Edwards (Greg) and Dakota Mobbs of Rome, GA;  sisters, Mrs. Myrlene Reynolds (Hubert) of Purvis,  MS and  Mrs. Faith Howell (Charles) of Lucedale, MS;  brother Gary Johnson (Kathy) of Huntsville, AL;   sister-in-law, Jean Gross of Armuchee, GA;  brother-in-law Gary Mobbs (Vivian) of Centre, AL; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mobbs will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home, Rome, Ga.,, with the Reverend Bob Agan officiating.  Interment services will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers shall be Jarred Hicks, Colton Hicks, Jameson Mobbs, Dakota Mobbs, John Ginn and Greg Edwards. Honorary pallbearers shall be Mr. Jim Brown and Mr. Tommy Mitchell

The family will receive friends at Salmon Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
