The Salvation Army of Rome is putting the finishing touches on the new Thrift Store opening Wednesday, August 29 at 10 a.m. at Gala Plaza, 2501 Redmond Circle. There will be a ribbon cutting and grand opening event. The organization has closed the Thrift Store on East 2nd Avenue, but will continue to accept donations that that location as well as the new West Rome store.
Join the Berry College Student Enterprises & other community vendors for the annual fall Farmers’ Market on Saturday, September 8 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Berry’s Clara Bowl. The market will include products such as Angus Beef, jams & jellies, vegetables, eggs, artwork, handcrafted jewelry, Jersey Milk cheese, and much more. We will also have hamburger plates for sale, music, and a bouncy house for the kids. The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center will hold a household hazardous waste and electronics recycling event on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center, 405 Watters Street. Household hazardous waste items include: poisons, pesticides, paint, automotive fluids, fluorescent bulbs, cleaning products, pool chemicals and more. Electronic items include: TVs, computers, monitors, speakers, printers, copiers, DVD players, sound systems, cables, satellite receivers, fax machines and more. If you have questions about items accepted, please call. Items we will NOT accept include: tires, wood, clothing, toilets, construction debris, toys, medical waste or trash.
