Dining: Rockmart becoming a restaurant hub; Spice Street Grill opens Tuesday.

So what’s with all the restaurant movement in Rockmart? In recent days, we’ve heard that:

Almond chicken with steak fries — on Spice Street Grill’s menu.

Knucklehead Cafe is reopening later this month under new ownership at 217 W. Elm St. Eric Tant, a talented chef who was the director of food services at the previous establishment, is the new owner. Click Knucklehead

-The former Sonic Drive-In will soon give way to Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen.

-The recent arrivals of Captain D’s, Chick-fil-A, Martin’s Restaurant and Jefferson’s.

And now comes Spice Street Grill at 108 E. Church St., opening Tuesday in the former home of Slate Market Grill. There’s a pretty good buzz already on Facebook about this one and the reason is the posted menu. In addition to some of the classics, here are a few that will open some eyes: Goober Burger (half pound of Angus beef with spiced Street peanut sauce), barbecue featuring Melba Q sauce, Jalapeno shrimp bites and blackeyed pea Hummus.

Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon-3 p.m. on Sunday. Click for the menu.
