Dining: Del Taco plans restaurant in Calhoun, seeks bids for $750,000 project.

Del Taco next up for Calhoun: Rumored to be looking at Northwest Georgia for several years, bids for a Del Taco restaurant in Calhoun are sought through Aug. 14. The project value is listed at $750,000, according to bid records. Del Taco representatives says the restaurant will open late December or early 2019. The nearest Del Taco restaurants to our area are in Kennesaw and Woodstock. The last one in our area was in Cedartown and it closed probably some 30 years ago. For more: Menu

Del Taco Restaurants, Inc., the nation’s second leading concept in the fast-growing Mexican quick service restaurant category, recently signed a multi-unit franchise development agreement that will extend the brand’s presence into Tennessee. Led by experienced restaurateur Tom Getz, development efforts include plans to open the first of seven units in the broader Chattanooga area by 2019. Initial locations are slated to open throughout Hamilton and Bradley Counties in Tennessee, as well as expansion into Whitfield, Catoosa and Gordon counties in Georgia.  Operating under Jetz Foods LLC, Getz and his partner Billy Jensen have over 31 years of experience in the industry, including currently owning and operating 21 Little Caesars restaurants in Georgia and Tennessee.
