Brothers who died hours apart here on Monday will be buried together following joint funeral at Henderson & Sons on Friday.

Lonnie Clark

A 75-year-old Rome man who had been ill died Monday at an area hospital and his older brother, who had traveled from North Florida to be with him, died suddenly several hours later. Lonnie and Leroy Clark will now be buried at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens following a joint funeral service set for 2 p.m. Friday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.


Mr. Lonnie Eugene Clark, age 75, of Rome, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, in a local hospital.

Mr. Clark was born in Chattanooga, TN on August 3, 1942, son of the late LeRoy Clark Sr. and the late Geneva Rogers Price. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol Adam, and his brother, LeRoy “Chief” Clark, Jr. passed away shortly after him on Monday. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Local #752 at Anheiser-Busch in Cartersville. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Joyce Magnicheri Williams, to whom he was married on August 10, 1974; 5 daughters, Marie Palo (Stacey), Sacramento, CA, Donna Jean Rains, Sacramento, CA, Patty Brooks (Ed), Newman, CA, Barbara Rice (Tim), Sharpsburg, GA, and Denice Maddox (James), Lamar, IN; a son, Danny Williams (Connie), Rome; 2 sisters, Shirley Belcher, Jacksonville, FL, and Joyce Pinten, Washington Heights, MI; 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Lonnie Clark and for his brother, Mr. LeRoy Clark, Jr., will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. The Rev. Randy Lambert will officiate. Interments will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Friday at 1:30 p.m. and include: Jimmy Maddox, Jordan Rice, Jonathan Rice, Jacob Rice, Jamie Belcher, David Belcher, Luke Belcher, and Francisco Miranda.


Leroy ‘Chief’ Clark

Mr. LeRoy “Chief” Clark Jr., age 77, of Orange Park, Fla., passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, following a sudden attack after the death of his brother earlier.

Mr. Clark was born in Chattanooga, TN on December 23, 1940, son of the late LeRoy “Roy” Clark Sr. and the late Geneva Rogers Price. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carol Adam, and by a brother, Lonnie Eugene Clark. Mr. Clark was a veteran of the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he was a construction foreman for Research Cottrell, specializing in the construction of cooling towers. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and was a member of Four Square Assembly of God.

Survivors include his wife, the former Sandra Ruth “Sandy” Jagger, to whom he was married on September 1, 1973; 2 sisters, Shirley Belcher, Jacksonville, FL, and Joyce Pinten, Washington Heights, MI; nieces and nephews.
