Update: Four killed including two females, one male and one child; three others injured in major accident on Ga. 140 in Adairsville

Four people killed and three injured in a two vehicle crash on GA 140 at Towe Chapel Road in Adairsville on Friday afternoon. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Vehicle #1, a beige 1996 Toyota Avalon, failed to stop at a posted stop sign on Towe Chapel Road at GA SR 140 in Bartow County. Vehicle #1 entered the path of a green 2004 Ford F-150 pickup and was struck on the driver side. Three occupants in the pickup were transported to Cartersville Medical Center with minor injuries. Four occupants in the sedan succumbed to their injuries as a result of the crash.

The occupants in the sedan were:
Shannon Hartsfield, 41, of Cartersville (Driver)
Nancy Evans, 53, of Acworth
Richie Willis, 36, of Adairsville
Male Juvenile, 6

7 p.m. update: According to Bartow County Deputy Coroner Larae Harris, four confirmed fatalities include two females, one male and one juvenile male. All victims were in the same vehicle. Identification is pending as the Bartow Coroner’s office works to notify next-of-kin.

Several emergency units and an air ambulance are on scene of a serious motor vehicle accident with multiple entrapments. Please avoid the area.
