Buzz: Date change for Polk County Fair to Aug. 28-Sept. 2. Rome Commission to consider minor curfew ordinance. Floyd Commission meeting Tuesday.

From Polk County Fair: We have BIG news for this year’s Polk County Fair. As most of you know our fair is normally around the 2nd week of September. This year, our fair dates have changed!!! The 2018 Polk County Fair will be August 28th-September 2nd and for the very first time we will be opening on Sunday afternoon!!! We have a few other cool new changes that will be announced closer to fair time! Stay tuned for more information as it gets closer and closer to the Ferris Wheel and funnel cakes!!


The Rome City Commission will meet Monday, July 23 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The third public hearing on the proposed 2018 property tax millage rate will be held during the meeting. The Commission is expected to approve a resolution adopting the millage rate following the public hearing. Also on the agenda will be a first reading for an updated minor curfew ordinance that would put in place a curfew for minors under the age of 17 (that are not accompanied by an adult) between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 p.m. There are some exceptions including emergencies and school functions such as football games, dances, etc.  Agenda


The Floyd County Board of Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in the Community Room, Suite 206, on the second floor of the Floyd County Administration Building, 12 East 4th Avenue, Rome, Georgia. Caucus will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Caucus Room, Suite 204, followed by the Board Meeting at 6:00 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.  The second public hearing for the 2018 millage rage will also be held at 8:00 a.m. in the Community Room on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
