From WRGA: Two UtiliCon employees doing contract work for Georgia Power were injured Tuesday morning. The initial call to 911 reported a worker possibly sustaining an electrical shock at the railroad tracks on John Davenport Drive.

However, we have not been able to confirm how the workers were injured. Preliminary indications were the injuries were not life-threatening. We have a call into UtiliCon to get more information.

John Kraft with Georgia Power confirmed the power outage that stretched from Martha Berry Boulevard, along Shorter Avenue to the Division Street area resulted from the incident. Around 1,000 customers were affected and traffic lights were down.

Kraft said power was restored to the majority of customers in about 15 minutes with everyone back on by 9:45 a.m.

He added “At Georgia Power, safety is our top priority for anyone working at one of our facilities. Of course, our thoughts and prayers are with the injured workers and their families.”
