Obituaries: Marion J. Howell, Mrs. Diane Mitchell and Mrs. Maria Karl West

Mrs. Diane Mitchell, 69, of Cave Spring, formerly of Aragon, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, June 30, 2018 at her residence.

The former Patti Diane Formby, Mrs. Mitchell was born in Aragon, Georgia August 26, 1948, daughter of the late Carl Formby and the late Wilma Gazaway Formby. A homemaker, Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Cedartown, and attended the Aragon Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was also preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Formby.

Survivors include her husband, Duel Ray Mitchell, to whom she was married June 11, 1966; two daughters, Ms. Kathleen Hope Trudell of Cave Spring and Ms. Kelli Mitchell of Rome; six grandchildren, Chrystal Purdy, Kathleen Connors, Theresa Sanford, Stephanie Trudell, Andrea Trudell, and Stephen Trudell; and four great-grandchildren, Izzy Purdy, Neal Purdy, II., Ryder Purdy, and Sophia Connors. One brother, Jimmy Formby and his wife Connie of Dallas and four sisters, Mrs. Sandra Miller and her husband Ronnie of Adairsville, Ms. Teresa Cooper of Rockmart, Mrs. Brenda Jay and her husband Scott of Aragon, and Mrs. LeAnn Cothran and her husband Jon of Adairsville, also survive.

Mrs. Mitchell’s family will receive friends at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

Mrs. Maria Karl West, age 60, of Lindale, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at a local hospital.

Mrs. West was born in Athens, Greece on April 7, 1958, daughter of the former Anastasia Panagotarakou and Yannis Nocolaidis. She was Manager at Gondolier Pizza in Rome and was of the Greek Orthodox faith.

Survivors include her husband, David West, Perry, GA; 2 daughters, Angelina Morris (Jonathan), Rome, and Staci Marie Robinson, Rome; her parents, Yannis and Anastasia Nocolaidis, Athens, Greece; a sister, Angeliki Nicolaidou, Athens, Greece; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 9:30am until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at their respective homes.
