Funeral services are set for Sunday for a rising Sonoraville High student killed in a vehicle-train accident in Calhoun, Tenn., last Thursday.
Jazzmyne Ashworth died in the accident that also claimed the life of her father and his fiancee, according to multiple Chattanooga-area news reports. Expanded report
On Wednesday, Sonoraville High plans to have counselors on site from 4 until 6 p.m. “for students or faculty who need to talk with someone.” News of the counseling session was posted on the school’s Facebook page and shared by the Gordon County school district.
Ponders Funeral Home-Calhoun at 675 Jolley Road will be the site of visitation on Saturday from 3 until 9 p.m. Her funeral is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in Ponder’s chapel. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Calhoun.
She was one of 100 students from across the nation who took part in the Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and Essence magazine in March. It was described as a “four-day, immersive and transformational mentoring program at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.”
