Horseleg to be closed this morning for tree removal: On Tuesday, June 26, a Georgia Power contractor will have Horseleg Creek Rd closed to through traffic to remove a dead tree.  Because of the size of the tree, a crane is needed and will require the entire road to be closed.  The road will be closed from 9 a.m. until noon. Sign boards were placed on Horseleg Creek Road Friday informing residents of the closure.  The work will be taking place near 1711 Horseleg Creek Road and Huntington Road.  Residents who live beyond the point of closure will still be able to access Horseleg Creek Road from the West Rome Bypass.

The Second Annual Thank A Hero Rome Luncheon is today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Rome & Floyd County Fire Department Training Center.  The luncheon is a way of thanking the folks of Rome and Floyd County’s public service departments. The Thank A Hero Rome Luncheon was established by Farmers Insurance – Alma Roman Agency in 2017.  Other partners include Service Master by Twins, Merry Maids, Cartridge World, Rome Cleaners and Purple Trumpet Marketing. The meal is from Pick O Deli and Smoothie King.  Brookdale Rome will have an ice cream bar.  Also contributing: Fred’s Pharmacy and Publix.

The 2013 & 2017 Floyd County SPLOST Committees will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, at the Richard B Russell Regional Airport located at 304 Russell Field Road, Rome, Georgia for an update on current projects.
