Jay Shell expects more than 8,000 fans for today’s Rome River Jam at Ridge Ferry Park. At 9 this morning, the concert site was buzzing. An armada of support vehicles already were in place, from the Parker System semis to Otter’s Chicken to dozens of others. Even the “get off my lawn” signs are out at RiverWalk strip center so be careful where you park.

The International Aerobatic Club Southeast Bear Creek Bash aerobatic competition continues Saturday at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport. Aerobatic activity will begin at 9 a.m. and end around 5 p.m. with a break for lunch around noon to 1 p.m. The competition will include many top aerobatic pilots with at least eight members of the U.S. Advanced Team, including two-time National Advanced Champion Aaron McCartan. This event is open to the public and admission is free. Spectators are encouraged to bring chairs/blankets as seating is limited.
