Rome-Floyd Recycling Center is hosting a Scrap Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, June 23, at State Mutual Stadium on Braves Boulevard from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. This is a residential-only event with a limit of eight – including up to two tractor tires. Commercial tires will not be accepted.

Shorter University is offering a five-day Crime Camp for teens ages 16 to 18 who are interested in an inside look at the criminal justice system. The camp, hosted by the university’s Department of Social Sciences, will be held on Shorter’s campus June 18-22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.  The cost to attend is $50, which includes a t-shirt. To register, visit here or email lpitts@shorter.edu for additional information. Crime Camp will allow participants to meet law enforcement agents, professors, and other students who share an interest in criminal justice. Activities will explore the operations of a crime lab and jail functions plus a look at how police would respond to different types of calls.
