Cedartown’s Nick Chubb signs with the Cleveland Browns: Cleveland.com reports that ” Browns No. 35 overall pick Nick Chubb, who will share the running back load with Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson this season, has signed his four-year rookie deal worth about $7,432, 092. It includes a signing bonus of about $3,485,158, according to projections by spotrac.com.” Expanded story

From Major League Baseball: The Yankees have seen Anthony Seigler (Cartersville High) do it all on a baseball diamond, awed by his ability to not only switch-hit, but to switch-pitch. Seeing the Georgia high schooler’s future behind the plate, they made him their first-round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, going 23rd overall on Monday evening. Though Seigler has dominated with both arms from the mound, the Yankees identified the 18-year-old as a catcher when they announced their selection on Monday. Sporting a shaggy haircut and flashy shoes, Seigler beamed as he donned the pinstripes in MLB Network’s Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J. Expanded story

Berry Places 118 on SAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. Media release:  The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced the league’s winter/spring Academic Honor Roll with the Berry College Vikings placing 118 student-athletes on the list. To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.
