Racing a Friday afternoon proposal deadline, Rome developer Wayne Robinson has submitted a rough proposal for a mixed-use development on city property adjoining the Courtyard by Marriott project on West Third Street.
Robinson, working with Mark Cochran of Cevian Design Lab, says the unnamed project includes a mix of condominiums, apartments and retail. The site is the one that David Doss had sought to develop with a mix of condos and retail. Other proposals for the site had involved hotels. The city of Rome asked for new ideas with a deadline set for Friday.
Robinson says the project brings condos and apartments to the downtown area without having to worry about parking or related issues. The footbridge across the Oostanaula would make Broad Street easily accessible, he says.
Ira Levy is building 26 condos and six retail spots with The Lofts at Third and Broad. Two retail spots already are claimed and 12 of the condos have reservations.
