Model High School’s Class of 2018 graduated at The Forum River Center on Saturday. Valedictorian is Candice Peeler and Salutatorian is Kelsey Binnion. According to Floyd County Schools, Model’s Class of 2018 included 164 graduates with 34% headed to a 4-year college; 26% headed to a 2-year college; 23% to technical school; 7% to trade school or apprenticeship; 2% to GAP year; 1% to military; 3% to work force and 4% undecided. MHS graduates earned a total of $4,372,956 in scholarship money. In all, graduates from all four Floyd County high schools were accepted to 80 different colleges or universities across the country.
While it was a time of great celebration, it was also a very bittersweet ceremony as the school continues to mourn the loss of fellow senior Caleb Keller who died in a car crash earlier this week. Students and staff wore blue ribbons and his graduation robe was draped over a chair in his memory during the ceremony. Click here to see over 100 more photos from Floyd County Schools.
