Rome man faces murder charge after one man dies, another is wounded in Bartow County shooting. The suspect is now in the Bartow jail.

Justin Lee Wade, 27, the suspect in Thursday’s shooting, has been transferred to the Bartow County Jail. In that report, he’s listed as a homeless man living in Cartersville. He was booked into the jail at 1:18 a.m. Friday on murder and aggravated assault-gun charges. A mug shot was not available as of 5:15 Friday morning.


The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the alleged shooter in today’s double shooting.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, just after 8 p.m. Thursday, Justin Lee Wade, 27, of Rome was charged with murder and aggravated assault. Wade was arrested in Floyd County and has been transferred to the Bartow County Jail on those charges. It is still unknown what led to the shooting and it is still considered an active investigation.


The updates began arriving around 2:45 p.m. Thursday concerning the area of Cassville Road and Iron Belt. Said one writer: “Cops, fire trucks, ambulances, detectives everywhere.”

According to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office:

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an active investigation on Franklin Drive off Cassville Road after responding to reports of several persons shot and injured.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, deputies and first responders arrived on scene to find that a person had been fatally shot outside of a residence and another had been shot and ran from the scene. The injured person was transported to an area trauma center for emergency treatment. Both victims were male. Further identification is not available at this time.

Millsap stated that investigators and deputies are working to gather evidence and identify any suspect(s) responsible for this incident. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 770-382-5050 ext. 6030.
