Mr. William Edward Davis, age 89, of Jacksonville, AL, formerly of Rome, passed away Tuesday evening, May 8, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mr. Davis was born in White Plains, AL on March 20, 1929, son of the late Horace and Hattie Coleman Davis. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Thelma Jean Stokes Davis, and by his late wife, Doris Bussey Davis.
Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 37 years with Temple-Inland in Rome. Mr. Davis was a long-time member and Deacon at Pisgah Baptist Church.
Most recently, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, AL.
Survivors include 2 sons, Donnie Davis (Valorie), Lindale, and Bobby Davis (Kathy), Rome; a step-son, Bill Bussey (Betty), Birmingham, AL; 6 grandchildren, Anthony Davis, Rome, Ashley Davis Pickard (David), Rome, Katie Davis Carmichael (Grant), Canton, Kyle Davis, Birmingham, AL, Hunter Bussey and Katelyn Bussey, both of Birmingham, AL; 6 great grandchildren, Kenlin Davis, Kaden Pickard, Kaleigh Pickard, and Karson Davis, all of Rome, and Hadley and Hensley Carmichael, both of Canton; cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Derek Staples officiating.
Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at Lakeview Baptist Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Ms. Lillie Marietta Gibson, age 77, went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at a local hospital.
Home-going services for Ms. Lillie Marietta Gibson will be Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 1 p.m. Lovejoy Baptist Church 436 Branham Ave SW, Rome, Ga. Interment will follow at East View Cemetery, 725 Kingston Ave. NE, Rome, Ga.
She will lie in state from noon until the hour of service. The family will receive friends at the residence 623 Pennington Ave. Rome, Ga.

Mrs. Viola P. Huckaby, age 85 of Rome passed away Tuesday May 8, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Huckaby was born October 19,1932, in Floyd County a daughter of the late Henry Grady and Carrie Poole. She was a member of Vann’s Valley Baptist Church, and a retire from Floyd Medical Center as a Registered Nurse after 40 years of service with 32 of the those years in Maternity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lamar Huckaby, sons, Nathan Lionel Huckaby, Ricky Lamar Huckaby, sisters, Alice Haygood, Helen Loveless, Louise Cagle.
Survivors include sons, Mike Huckaby, Rome; Kenneth (Gloria) Huckaby, Rome; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday May 10, 2018 at Vann’s Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Mark Huckaby officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service on Thursday at Vann’s Valley Baptist Church.

Mrs. Annie Kate Wright Brock, age 98, of Rome, passed away Monday May 7, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Brock was born August 6, 1919 in Carroll County, Ga. the daughter of the late William T. Wright and Alma Griffies Wright. She was a member North Rome United Methodist Church and retried from AT&T after 38 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Brock, son, Bobby G. Brock, brothers, Horace Hollis, and W.T. Wright, sister, Frances Wright.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann Brock, Summerville; daughter in law, Angela (Ricky) Moore, Silver Creek; grandson, Bobby Leon Brock, special nieces, Julia Eason, Linda Howell, special nephew, Tony Phil Wright, several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday May 10, 2018 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tom Bowen, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
