Jerry Maurice Lansdell died at home in Rome, GA on November 12, 2017 at the age of 77.
He was born June 20, 1940 in Rome, GA. He was one of eleven children and was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Charles Lee Lansdell Sr. and Mrs. Ella Mae Wescott Lansdell; siblings Martha Jane Lansdell, Delores Morgan, Mary Barnes, Sandra Bruce, Charles Lee (Sonny) Lansdell Jr., Leonard (Brother) Lansdell; daughter Lori Nicole Lansdell.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1970 in various locations in the US and abroad and was a veteran from the Vietnam War and Korean Conflict. Afterwards Jerry became a professional welder and pipefitter working out of Local 766 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union in Rome, GA. After retirement from the Union, Jerry was employed at Floyd Medical Center as a security officer and courier. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Melba Lansdell to whom he was joined in marriage on July 2, 1994. He is also survived by his siblings Margaret Hammond, Gerald(Nancy)Lansdell, Roy(Francis)Lansdell and Benny(Joyce)Lansdell, his son’s Christopher (Debbie) Peeden; Donnie(Tammie) Lansdell; daughters Cindy(Jim) Young; Judy(David) Axley; grandchildren Christopher Peeden, Ryan Peeden, Luke Lansdell, Zachary Lansdell, Rebecca Lansdell and Robbie Lansdell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Rev. David Harper officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until service hour on Wednesday November 15, 2017 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome Ga. 30165.
Lillie Genell Helms, 91, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017. Daniel’s Funeral Home. Mr. Kenneth Wayne Keith, age 74, of Rome died Friday evening, November 10, 2017 in a local hospital.
Born in Mobile, Alabama on September 27, 1943, Mr. Keith was the son of the late C.L. and Dorothy Register Keith. He had been a resident of Rome since 1954 and was a 1961 graduate of Coosa High School and Coosa Valley Tech. He was retired from Georgia Kraft/ Temple-Inland Company and a veteran, serving honorably with the U.S. Navy. An avid supporter of Crimson Tide football, he and Wanda attended every regular season and bowl game, both home and away, for 23 ½ years. He was a member of the University of Alabama Alumni Association and the Tide Pride Scholarship Club.Mr. Keith was a member of the Coosa Lodge #622 F& AM, the Rome Shrine Club, and the Yarabb Temple.
