An emotional Floyd County Board of Education meeting is expected this evening as two members will serve for the final time. The meeting will feature “recognition” of George Bevels — who spent more than a quarter of a century on the board — and David Cox, whose terms end this month.
From School Board Chair Chip Hood: “Please if you can (Tuesday) night come to the Floyd County School Board meeting at 6 p.m. (we will start promptly at 6). This will be the final board meeting for two great men who have given so much to the school system. George Bevels has served for the past 27 years and David Cox for over eight years. Hope to see you.”
What’s next: In January, Dr. Melissa Strickland and Melinda Jeffers join the board after winning their respective elections earlier this year.
